At HECAL, we study the symbiotic relationships between health and factors that affect it like environment, culture and livelihoods. We take an integrated approach towards factor that actually impact people's health and well-being. Health of individuals, families and communities depend on access to safe and secure livelihoods. Understanding of livelihoods provides patterns about health and well-being. We endeavor to study and analyze how household health is transformed through safe livelihoods. A particular area of interest is the health impact of natural farming methods on rural household health.
Environmental degradation, pollution, erosion of cultures and natural methods of farming have a significant impact on livelihood and indirectly affect quality of life and health. We are interested in making these key connections to understand how health issues emerge in rural and urban settings.
Currently we have an MoU with Jaya Organic Yojana to carry out impact analysis on their project related to vermicomposting and organic farming.
